What You Will Learn
Bridge combines the suspense of p
oker, the challenge of chess and the thrill of athletic sports. Many people have fun playing bridge casually at home. Others enjoy testing their wits at bridge clubs and tournaments throughout the country. Each summer, schools like Harvard, Princeton, Cal Tech and Michigan send teams to compete in the Collegiate Team Bridge Championship.

What the summer program includes
•    8 days of instruction and play.
•    Pizza party at last session.
•    Field trip to a local duplicate bridge game on Saturday, July 11.
•    One-year Junior membership in the American Contract Bridge League.
•    Invitation to compete in NJBA’s Student bridge championship on Friday, Nov. 6. (The championship is held in Allendale during the NJ Teachers’ Convention.)

Who Should Attend
This class is for any student entering Grades 9 through 12 in September 09. No previous bridge experience is needed.

Your Instructor
Terry Choma (pictured above) teaches match at Glen Rock High School.  She holds a BA from Montclair State College and a MA from Teachers College Columbia University. In addition to teaching, Terry is Mathematics Department Leader and Math Team Advisor. She has found that introducing students to the game of bridge is a natural extension of the mathematics curriculum.  The game has many layers which enable students to develop reasoning and logic skills in a challenging and nonroutine venue.
